During a land management project on the San Bernard Wildlife Refuge, work crews uncovered human remains while excavating a drainage canal. Cultural Resource Consultants, LLC. was contracted to conduct exploratory investigations. The following images were produced to document the process. The work done during this initial investigation laid the groundwork for a complete study conducted by Texas A&M. It was ultimately concluded that the discovered remains were of a woman who had been buried on the site nearly 6000 years ago.
